Hello everyone!

We have been so busy in the art studio the past couple of weeks! We are working hard to build our sketchbooks that we will be using in each class as a place where we will begin ENVISIONING different potential ideas which we will bring to life through the materials in our studio! Right now we are still in the beginning stages of our EXPLORATION, as we are doing a whole lot of learning about how artists act in the WORLD, but it all starts with how we treat each other in the studio day to day. 

We are also continuing to create connections between literature and our art! Our kinders and Y5's have read such books as:

We are beginning to lean into the STUDIO HABITS of MIND, which are the guiding principles of how artists THINK, and how creative decisions are made! The 8 habits, as stated by Harvard's Project Zero are:

IDEA Generation in the ART STUDIO!

We talk LOTS in the studio about IDEAS, and where we as artist's can find them. We are learning that IDEAS come from things that we.... As artists in the studio, we have LOTS of opportunities to learn and grow around each of these possible spots to bring our ideas to life! We have lots of THINGS we can observe in the studio, which means we LOOK at things that can inspire our ideas. We talk about how POWERFUL our imaginations are, and dream up what could live in our imaginary worlds. We look at lots of artwork that is inspired by telling a story about how someone FEELS. We also see lots of artwork that tells a story about memories from someone's life! We learn about these things in little bits, and then combine these lessons with learning HOW to use materials, so that we might be able to really help our IDEAS grow!
